The Health Benefits of a High Protein Diet

Many people associate high protein diets with muscle growth and recovery alone. What many don’t realise is the ample amount of health benefits that a high protein diet brings, more than just muscle mass.

One of the most important benefits of a high protein diet is improved sleep. It’s common knowledge that having plenty of sleep aids growth and recovery but the benefits are tenfold. A rested body and mind will contribute to a more productive day and a happier you. Your overall well-being will improve and this can be achieved by increasing your protein in your diet.

Secondly, a high protein diet can help you lose more weight. Protein is more thermogenic than carbohydrates and fat, this means you will burn more calories if your diet is higher in protein. Furthermore, protein helps with satiety and in a recent study is showed that people felt less hunger when their diet was higher in protein.

The recommended guideline is to eat between 1-1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight. If you find this difficult then consuming a whey protein powder is a great and convenient way to increase daily protein intake.
